THE UNITED WAY OF THE RIVER CITIES FOUNDATION

The United Way of the River Cities Foundation provides individuals the opportunity the ensure the continuation of these critical efforts on behalf of the community.

The Foundation was created in 1986 for the sole purpose of ultimately underwriting all of the administrative costs for United Way of the River Cities. Your gift puts the Foundation closer to that goal. When you become a member of the Foundation, you help create the means by which United Way’s work can become a reality.

There are many ways to give to the Foundation. We will work closely with you and your financial advisers to help determine which of the following methods works best for you.

Outright Gifts:  This includes cash and checks. Gifts of appreciated securities and real estate are options that offer tax savings for you and sizeable gifts for the Foundation.

Bequests Through Wills: Naming the Foundation in your will is one of the easiest ways to ensure your charitable-giving wishes. Bequests may be in the form of state dollar amount, property, a percentage or the residual percentage of an estate.

Charitable Remainder Trust: The earnings from this type of trust, or an annuity, are paid as income to you and your beneficiaries. Upon the beneficiaries’ death(s), the principal passes to the Foundation.

Charitable Lead Trust: These trusts are established for a specific period. During the life of the trust, earnings pass to the Foundation.

Retirement Plans: You may choose to name the Foundation as the beneficiary of a portion of your retirement.

Life Insurance: A simple way to make a lasting gift and realize tax savings is through life insurance. For example, you can name the Foundation as a beneficiary of an existing policy.

The future is in our hands. You and your financial advisers can select a gift that is best suited to your personal circumstances and your charitable-giving philosophy. Each of the planned-gift options can provide a substantial gift to the Foundation and may ensure tax and income advantages to you and your family.
