The Big Cover Up
The Big Cover Up is a youth-led initiative that engages high school students in projects to ensure that youth in need receive warm clothing during winter months. Grants of various amounts are awarded to schools, now five counties, to further the goals of this program. This program has been in place for 14 years.
Students plan the program and conduct fundraisers to match part of the United Way grant. Then, they purchase warm clothing for children in the neighboring elementary or middle school. In some instances, the high school students bought warm attire for their peers.
