Tocqueville Society

The United Way Tocqueville Society was founded more than 20 years ago in order to deepen the understanding, commitment, and support of United Way’s most generous and community-minded investors.

The Tocqueville Society of United Way of the River Cities recognizes and encourages exemplary leadership gifts by individuals who generously donated $10,000 or more. The society is named after Alexis de Tocqueville, the young French author of Democracy in America. In his work, Tocqueville declared his admiration for the American philanthropic spirit, which he believed to be one of our country’s greatest assets.
