Prescription Drug Abuse Campaign

Everyone knows drugs are dangerous. But did you know that sharing prescription drugs can be just as dangerous and deadly too? Sharing prescription drugs is also illegal.

In response to the increase in prescription drug abuse, the WV Partnership to Promote Community Well-Being and the West Virginia Prevention Resource Center have developed a Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Social Marketing and Media Campaign that includes:

  1. Public Service Announcements for TV, radio, newspaper, and billboard.
  2. Campaign Website: www.takecarewv.org
  3. Community Forums: The Cabell County Substance Abuse Prevention Partnership (CCSAPP) will host at least 5 community forums in Cabell County about prescription drug abuse.
  4. Pharmacy bags: Participating counties will receive pharmacy bags that will include the campaign logo, message and website.

What can you do to take part in prevention prescription drug abuse?

  1. Ask your church, civic group, neighborhood group or group of friends to host a prescription drug abuse community forum.
  2. Post a Take Care WV message on your website or FaceBook page. All messages and videos at www.takecarewv.org are free to download.
  3. Ask your physician or pharmacist to display one of the Take Care WV messages in their office or pharmacy.

If you are interested in hosting a community forum or would like more information about the campaign, please contact:
